David's second school was Mundo Magico, a private school that offered Kindergarten to Grade One. It was a much more positive experience for both him and us. There were only nine students in his class and his teacher spoke some English. One of our neighbours worked as the English teacher at this school, a member of our Church as the Music teacher. David soon learned to read, write and speak in Spanish. He is pictured here in a school Christmas presentation as one of the three kings.
The school was patronized by parents who could afford the twenty dollar a month fee. Not exactly middle class but those with a disposable income of sorts and a willingness to pay for a better education for their children.
David's teacher changed during his second year at the school and the replacement was of the "old school". She and David clashed from day one. David was soon bored and refused to cooperate, itwas time to look for another school.
David and Levi drew a lot of attention no matter where we went because of their blonde hair and blue eyes. They became quite indignant eventually to all the hands wanting to fondle their hair and women who wanted to stare into their eyes and kiss them. This last detail drove Wendy absolutely mad. David would at times milk the attention he got for all it was worth, asking for candy or other favours.
